The Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, Surface Studio 2 and also the Surface Headphones: Microsoft is making significant progress within its premium Surface line. What is new and improved compared to the previous generation?
Both Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2 are equipped with Intel processors from the eighth generation; that means that Surface devices are provided with quad-core CPUs for the first time. According to Microsoft, that is in a performance gain of just 70 percent. The company claims a battery life of 13.5 hours for the Pro 6 and 14.5 hours for the Laptop 2.
The main difference between both devices is that the Pro 6 is a hybrid tablet, while the Laptop 2 as the name says is purely a notebook. Microsoft still does not opt for a USB-c connection. In fact, it only stays with one USB-a-port. So you are still fast dependent on adapters, of which Microsoft itself sells a number – at a hefty price.
Prices start from 899 dollars for the Surface Pro 6 and from 999 dollars for the Surface Laptop 2. Europosters are not yet known. The Surface Pro 6 with matte black housing.

The Surface Headphones are also new, over-ear headphones with noise reduction. There are swivel heads on both ears, to adjust the volume and to adjust the noise canceling. The battery life is estimated at about 15 hours, charging is done here using USB-c. There is also support for the voice assist Cortana. The Surface Headphones charge via USB-c, a port that is missing on Surface laptops.
Finally, there is the Surface Studio 2, as a successor to the expensive Surface Studio last year. This time again a 28-inch screen with a 3: 2 aspect ratio and an extra high resolution of 4500 x 3000 pixels. Thanks to an improved processor and more powerful video card, it is 35 percent faster and 50 percent better in graphical calculations than its predecessor.
A price is not mentioned, but the earlier version costs at least 3,999 euros.
