Being an improved version of the Samsung Galaxy S10. We were sure that the 5G version would be one of the best smartphones of the moment. However, it is not worth paying the extra cost for 5G compatibility.

Samsung Galaxy S10 review (5G version)
In recent months, virtually all major smartphone brands have wanted to join the new trend: 5G. No wonder, then, that Samsung also wanted to do it. Which just released the Galaxy S10 5G.
While companies like OnePlus or Oppo have decided to make a 5G version exactly the same as their 4G version. Samsung has taken a step further and created a different smartphone to its flagship.
Thus, the new mobile has a larger screen, more battery capacity, and a camera more than the standard S10. In addition, it is obviously also compatible with 5G telephony. Is this enough to justify its high price? We discovered it in this review.

Samsung Galaxy S10
- Size is just-right
- High-quality hardware
- Fantastic display
- Powerful camera app
- Average battery life
- Difficult fingerprint reader
- High price tag
The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is undoubtedly the best mobile in the S10 range. There is also no doubt that it is one of the best smartphones on the market. Which makes it very annoying that you can only buy it if you can afford a 5G rate.
The Korean company has made minor improvements to its hardware. Thus, it has included a new camera configuration that is excellent, has enlarged the screen size – one of the best in the market – and has improved the battery.
If only for the beauty of your model in silver. It is a smartphone that everyone would like to have. Of course, we do not recommend spending so much money compatible with mobile technology yet to be developed.
Price and availability
Retail price: $ 1,299
Samsung has just released the Galaxy S10 5G, a model similar to the flagship that was released last February but whose main difference is the compatibility with the fifth generation of mobile telephony.
The company has not yet released this new model through its online store. This means that for now, its only official channel is Vodafone, although currently, you can also find it on eBay.
In Vodafone, you can buy it in cash from $ 1,079.63 or pay it in installments. You must choose between five different mobile rates and add between $ 30 and $ 36 per month more at the cost of the contract you choose, the price of which is between 29.99 and $ 49.99.
The official price of the standard Galaxy S10 is $ 909, about $ 170 less than the 5G model. The S10 can also be purchased in installments for an extra cost of about $ 20-30 per month, plus the rate you hire, in Vodafone.
As we have mentioned, the 5G version of the Galaxy S10 presents some differences in its appearance compared to the standard model. For starters, it has a larger screen in this case, 6.7 inches, and also has virtually no bevel.
Despite being a large phone, it will not cost you to handle it even if you have small hands. It helps that Samsung has opted for a curved design since this allows you to grab it well despite having a very tiny bezel.
In this sense, we like it more than the OnePlus 7 Pro, although we are left with its refresh rate of 90Hz. In contrast, the vibration, color and viewing angles of the S10 5G are quite similar. The latter, of course, looks much better in full sunlight.
On this occasion, Samsung has opted to also renew the range of colors in which it is available, being able to choose between silver and black. The silver color has a half matte finish, half a gloss finish, in which fingerprint stains are better concealed.
The S10 5G has a headphone jack port, which makes it one of the few 5G phones to have it. We also celebrate that Samsung has decided to continue with the front cameras embedded in the screen, and not the retractable systems of other brands.
5G mobile telephony the great attraction
Our partner Henry Burrell was found to have better coverage with an iPhone 8 with Vodafone 4G than with an S10 version 5G. That was not the case when he used another mobile operator, EE, not available in our country.
This is why Henry does not recommend us to pay the extra for 5G coverage that is inconsistent with Vodafone. Maybe it’s a bit early to decide to buy a 5G mobile, especially since the service is still very new and there is a lack of development.
Performance, storage, and RAM
After subjecting the Galaxy S10 5G to several benchmarking tests and comparing it with other similar models, it is not surprising that it is positioned as one of the most powerful smartphones in the world.
In our case, we have tested a European model with the Exynos 9820 processor, 256 GB storage and 8 GB of RAM. Its performance is almost equal to that of mobiles with Snapdragon 855 and even that of the iPhone XS, which is super, fast.
Cameras: too many lenses
The Galaxy S10 5G has an extra camera on the back compared to the S10 and the S10 Plus. In addition to the 12 MP main lenses, the 12 MP telephoto lenses, and the 16 MP ultra-wide-angle lenses, it now comes with a 3D TOF sensor.
According to Samsung, this allows you to better understand the depth of photos in portrait mode. It can also be used in the Quick Measure app, which uses the RA to measure objects. You may not find it too useful, but it puts it ahead of other mobiles.
As with the S10 and S10 Plus, the S10 5G has incredible cameras. Ultra-wide-angle is very useful. It is true that the telephoto lens only has an optical zoom of x2. But it offers a decent quality with the digital zoom of up to x10.
The front cameras of 10 MP and 8 MP allow you to take good selfies. They also include the 3D depth camera as a novelty. It is very versatile, although there may be someone who bothers you that it is embedded in the screen and that takes away space.
The cameras are excellent, but they don’t mean much progress over the S10 Plus. The bokeh effect of photos in portrait mode may not be the best, but in general terms, this camera setup is one of the best in mobile phones.
In this gallery, you can take a look at photos taken with the Galaxy S10 5G:
Samsung not only justifies the price of this Galaxy for its 5G compatibility but also because it offers all those features you can imagine. For example, it has a certified water resistance of IP68.
In addition, it has a headphone jack port and comes with AKG headphones in the box, and is compatible with wireless charging and reversible charging. Thus, you can also use it to charge other devices compatible with Qi technology.
To unlock the S10 5G, you can use its ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, undoubtedly one of the best on the market and a step forward compared to others such as the OnePlus 6T or the 7 Pro. It is very efficient and accurate.
The skin One UI based on Android 9.0 Samsung Pie is much better than in previous versions. It is quite different from Android Stock and the Google interface, but over time it is difficult to resist its charms.
In general terms, Samsung’s contributions are positive, although we continue to prefer the three traditional Android navigation buttons to the Samsung gesture system. In that, Apple is still above.
