If your Windows 10 PC or laptop has a Bluetooth connection, you can easily connect Bluetooth speaker of this type to take advantage of the wireless connection. We show you in this tutorial how to do it step by step.
The absence of the mini-jack connector on the new smartphones has caused many manufacturers to turn to the manufacture and marketing of wireless headphones and speakers with Bluetooth connectivity.
In this way, you may also want to use these speakers with your PC or laptop with Windows 10, if they really support this type of connectivity. In addition to providing you with great sound quality, you will have a speaker to connect various devices without cables in between.
We show you here, step by step, how it is possible to connect a Bluetooth speaker to a laptop or PC with Windows 10. You will have to put the new speaker in pairing mode so that it can be seen by your PC.
How to connect a Bluetooth speaker in Windows 10
The first step is to open the ‘Settings’ application and select ‘Devices‘. Make sure it is the most recent application, the one that was first introduced in Windows 8 and not the one that corresponds to the most advanced ‘Control Panel’.
In the ‘Devices’ menu, select the Bluetooth tab on the left side and activate Bluetooth if it is not already.
Turn on your Bluetooth speaker and put it in pairing mode. The method to activate the pairing mode varies by manufacturer. See your Bluetooth speaker’s manual for more details on how to do it. Sometimes it is by pressing the activation button for a few moments.
Once you are in pairing mode, return to the Bluetooth menu of your PC and wait for the speaker to appear in the list of found devices.
Click on the device and then press the option to pair. Depending on the Bluetooth speaker, you may have to enter a number to complete the pairing process, but this is not always the case.
Once the speaker is connected, all the Windows 10 audio will sound and be redirected through your new speaker. You can use the taskbar settings to modify it or select another alternative.
If for some unknown reason, audio playback through your speaker does not work, right-click the volume icon, located in the lower right corner of Windows 10.
Click on ‘Default playback device’, then select the Bluetooth speaker from the list and click on ‘Set default’. It is possible that Windows 10 was using other system speakers.
Some applications require you to perform a system reboot for the changes to be applied. This is true with certain applications such as iTunes or Spotify, to name a few, in addition to many games developed for PC.
