The YouTube app is now available for the Nintendo Switch
For almost a year and a half, Nintendo Switch users had to find unofficial alternatives to use YouTube on their console. Now Google has made it easier with the launch of the official downloadable app from the Nintendo eShop.
It is not a full version of the platform. For example, you will not be able to download videos to watch them without an Internet connection despite having a subscription to YouTube Premium, which means you will need to be connected to the Wi-Fi in order to use the app.
It is also worth noting that the app is not optimized for touch control. This means that, despite being compatible with 360º video, you must use the analog joystick to enjoy the experience.
We hope that all these problems are improved in future updates. Also, now that YouTube is already available for the Nintendo Switch, maybe that means that Netflix and Amazon Prime will soon be there too.
