The 1TB micro SD arrive: SanDisk and Micron announce the first models

The SanDisk Extreme UHS-I 1 TB microSD can reach speeds of up to 160 MB / s in data reading. We do not know details on the prices of the models that will be placed in commercial circuits by Micron. The Micron c200 1TB microSDXC UHS-I in particular. Will use the NAND quad-level 3D cell (QLC) technology in 64 layers to obtain the high storage capacity combined. which is defined by the manufacturer a good efficiency in production costs. The Micron model ensures lower performance than those of SanDisk, although in absolute more than optimal.

We have in this case the support for the A2 App Performance Class specifications. And can show performances of 100 MB / s in reading and 95 MB / s in writing. They are also compatible with the specifications UHS-I Speed Class 3 and Video Speed Class 30 in other words. Their use is recommended on both smartphones and high-performance cameras. As well as specifically for recording content at 4K resolution o for installation on gaming consoles or cameras with high frame rate bursts.

The 1 TB Micron c200 will be available from the “second quarter of 2019”. In the same family, we will see models starting from 128 GB, all with the same specifications.
